Postcards from Real Life: Swept Away

As you know, on Tuesday I head out for another big adventure. This is possibly the loosest I’ve ever planned before. With only the skeleton of a route sketched out and a few pins on a Pinterest board for inspiration, this will truly be a trip of following our bliss. No expectations, minimal itinerary… just allowing ourselves to get lost in the joy of travel and unexpected discovery.

I’ve had my moments of being swept away on journeys before but they were finite experiences within the larger logistics of an expedition. After last year’s challenges, I’m taking a completely different approach and letting the entire journey be about losing ourselves.

So I leave you with this…

It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to. ~J.R.R. Tolkein

I’ve shared this image often because in all of our travels, this shot symbolizes every soul-filling moment that makes what we do worthwhile. The place, the freedom, the state of mind… it all came together in this spectacular moment of pure happiness.
