Postcards from Real Life: Relax

If a picture is worth a thousand words, it’s also worth an immeasurable richness of sensory memory.

The power of images to take you back to a place you’ve been is a testament to the combined power of photography and experience. The sights, sounds, and smells envelope you. The tactile sensations come to life again.

This scene is from 2013 during a time in my life when I frequented Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Even over ten years later, the feeling of peace and relaxation I had sitting on the moss-covered rocks and absorbing the sensual delight of this haven still washes over me.

At a time in my life when I’m working harder than ever, taking a moment to re-experience this place helps me relax, reset, and keep moving forward.

A stream cascades over moss covered rocks in a lush forest in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
