About

Howdy! Thanks for popping in to learn out more about me—Val Weston AKA Val in Real Life.

This little project is a warts-and-all personal blog. It has evolved quite a lot over its eighteen-or-so years in existence. In a nutshell, this is my place to share my thoughts and experiences on living, exploring, and observing in this wacky world.

Some common themes here are my musings on travel, motorcycling, photography, my home renovation project, and random weird shit I encounter in my adventures.

As life stands right now, I’ve settled down in Silver City, New Mexico after a short stint as a full-time nomad living in a 200-square-foot toy hauler with my dear man. That wasn’t exactly the plan, but that’s how life shook out for us. That’s one of the many examples of why my tagline is “This was not in the brochure.”

In this dance through life, I succeed, I make mistakes, and I face life’s challenges just like everyone else. Some of them are funny. Some are are the opposite of funny. But folks seem to find some inspiration, knowledge, humor, or a little bit of themselves in the stories and experiences I share.

So welcome. Have a poke around and drop in a comment to introduce yourself. I’m glad you’re here.

Thanks for being here!
